Energy Transformations

Today in Science we are looking at Energy Transformations,

When energy is passed or changed from one type to another  

The eight types of energy

1. Kinetic -  anything that has to do with movement 

2. Chemical potential - is from food and fuel with changes to kinetic  

3. Heat - anything that has the stuff to do with temperatures

4. Light- Waves that are reflected that you can see 

5. Gravitational - Effect of gravity pushing down 

6. Elastic Potential - anything we can stretch 

7. Electrical- anything that uses the power 

8. Sound- energy that you can hear 

Marshmallow Cannons:

1. Cut the base out of a cup

2. Stretch a balloon

3. Cut ½ was down the neck of the balloon 

4. Put a balloon over the cup and enjoy your homemade cannon

What energy did it use?

Sound

Elastic potential 

Kinetic energy

Gravitational 

Why did these energies happen?

Sound because you are pulling the balloon making sound

Elastic because you are pulling the balloon giving it, its energy

Kinetic because the object is moving across the air so it is "Moving"

Gravitational is because when it has moved across the air it can not stay there forever so it falls to the ground.

Commitment

Today in Wga we have been learning about Commitment.

How have I shown Commitment this year?

I showed commitment by not giving up on the work that I found difficult.

What is my two commitment work ons for term three?

My first work on is making sure my Chromebook is charged for all of the day.

My second work on is to make sure that im being safe online.

What learning setting do I find most challenging?

Bring your device fully charged for the class, I find this hard because I forget about it sometimes and I also might not have time to charge it.   

Winter learning journey

Today in English we were working on stuff for the winter learning journey, I decided to work on one of the tasks the one that I choose was to create a flag, I added a little more than whats was asked, I added some fun facts about the flags I did. I hope you enjoy it.

This past term we have been looking at political parties. We set a goal

to form our own political party. We were called the United Party.

I was working with Jesse, Leo, Sereybuth, and Hamid.

STEAM

Today in wga time we have been doing STEAM and we were in the fashion area of it all, we decided to help the environment in 2050 by making some sort of system to heat and cool people without using heaps of energy and saving the energy for more important things. I have been working with Leo, Nici, Sophie and Maddison. I enjoyed working in this group because we all had the same idea so there were no arguments, we could have communicated more on the ideas other than that we did pretty good. I contributed by cutting out the fabric and helping with the sewing and putting in ideas and supplying the fabric and a few other things.

Learning about politics in school is important for high school students

 Politics is important to learn about at a young age so when it comes to voting we all know who to vote for. Knowing more about politics is helping us being build for the future and knowing our rights. For example, you haven't learned about politics and you have turned 18 and you are in front of the voting booth and you have no idea what you best like, so what are you going to do? You would probably vote for whatever one sounds the best but you wouldn't know what they fully stand for. So this is why politics should be an important subject in high school.

Do now: Being able to be confident when public speaking is an important life skill (Week 9)

When being a big speaker in front of people you need to have the confidence to be speaking in front of those people. Having the confidence to speak in front of people is important to speak clearly and the other people being able to understand what you are saying. For example, you're presenting in front of your boss and co-workers you need to have the confidence to speak in front of them and having them understand what you are trying to present to them. Speaking should be an important life skill
