Langosta

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

So in English, we have another Do now task and this one is about Langosta.

Why would the Langosta be useful on the Cay, it would be useful because it would be a good food source

What were the survival skill the langosta used, well it was buried in the sand so it couldn’t be spotted as easily, it probability ate whatever went past it or travelled a little bit, to where they couldn’t be seen. It would also need to hide close to the water so it can escape or not get dehydrated and cook in the sun if it is a hot day.

Do Now/ Hurricanes

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

So in English, it's another do now task this one is about Hurricanes.

Hurricanes form from water rising and evaporating and once high enough it will cool down and turn into rain droplets and become clouds.

Hurricanes are most likely to form in tropical areas where the water is 80℉.

Hurricanes Highest peak is in September.

Curacao tends to be warmer than usual on the island during hurricane season.

Why do I think this relates to our Cay reading?

I think it is because Willmstade has water all around it, also where Timothy and Phillip are they might see a hurricane or one might hit where they are.

Ten Survival tip for the Cay/What I remember happening in the book

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

So in English, I am behind in some work so here is two different bits of work for my English work so it’s a two in one, stay safe.

So the first one is ten survival tips for on the Cay.

This part is where I will write down things I remember for each chapter and listen to the audio, from Chapter 1-5

Chapter one
Most of chapter one is about the uboats/submarines and Timothy not listening to his mother.

Chapter two
in this chapter, they talk about blacking out their windows and people not wanting to sail because they could die but on February 21st was when they decided they would sail again. But on that same day, most of the ships got blown up. a few weeks later they watched as a huge boat filled with fuel sail off, but it sadly got exploded. And the mother decided to take Timothy back home.
Then weeks later they boarded the SS hato, and left and said goodbye to his father.

Chapter three
They were torpedo about three in the morning on April 6th, two days after they left. They had to abandon the ship, the boat was on fire. The lifeboat were being launched. The boat was tipping fast and the lifeboat tilted and they fell into the water. Timothy yelled for his mother then got hit in the head with something.

Chapter four
Timothy was put on a raft with Phillip and work up with bad head pains and saw a strange man with him. he looked at the sun and was blinded he got the older man to tell him what's happening

Chapter five
They collect food and try to get planes attention to safe them

The Cay (Do Now English)

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in English, in Lockdown we have been given a do now task. Sorry, I am a little behind I have been spreading sometimes with family and, doing things offline and working on some other work but here is the do now. Stay safe and becare from my family to yours

Living on the cay would be pretty difficult because if you were to have a big wind storm the sand would blow everywhere. Another reason would it would be difficult is there could be high water levels and not being able to swim would be a bad thing and you would have to leave most likely. But then it has its good sides as well because the fish will be closer inland and you will possibly have a better view of the ocean.

Calypso

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in English we had another do now, so today’s do now is about describing some music or somebody’s voice.

Their voice was soothing once you heard it, you would feel calm, and relaxed.

When I hear the song it reminds me of Hawaii. I could imagine the sound of waves and birds. listening to the song I can see the hula dancers, I could fall asleep to the sound of this music. I could even imagine people playing on the beach.

Pontoon Bridges, get to know a little about them

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in English we had another do now, so today’s do now was about Pontoon Bridges.

Pontoon bridges made they are made around wartime as river crossings. They are normally temporary and sometimes destroyed after crossing, to keep the enemy from using them, or collapsed and carried on a long march. They were used to great advantage in many battles.

Pontoons were formed by lashing several barrels together, by rafts of timber, or using boats. Each bridge section consisted of one or more pontoons, which were manoeuvred into position and then anchored underwater or land.

They reused them by taking them down and placing them somewhere else.

Schooner Week 2 do now

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in English we are doing a do now task, and this do now task is about Schooners

Schooners are a form of a boat it kinda looks like a normal boat, but with some different features. Normally you would see this boat with the colors Black, white, and a tannish brown. If I was to be sailing on one of these. I would imagine seeing heaps of water/sea, I would hear the ocean splashing onto the boat. What I would be feeling is hoping to see the land soon. I would predict it would be a heavy boat so that's why there are so many sails for the boat to move ford from the wind.

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in English we have been learning about U boats and here is my do now for Week 2

Three facts:

A German excavalryman and engineer named Wilhelm Bauer was the first one to invent the submarine.

There are only four U-boats remaining, preserved as museum vessels.

U-boats got their name by the German word Uterseeboot meaning Submarine or undersea boat.

This video is a good source because first of its from National Geographic and also what it would be like if you were there.

Learning about politics in school is important for high school students

Politics is important to learn about at a young age so when it comes to voting we all know who to vote for. Knowing more about politics is helping us being build for the future and knowing our rights. For example, you haven't learned about politics and you have turned 18 and you are in front of the voting booth and you have no idea what you best like, so what are you going to do? You would probably vote for whatever one sounds the best but you wouldn't know what they fully stand for. So this is why politics should be an important subject in high school.

Do now: Being able to be confident when public speaking is an important life skill (Week 9)

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

When being a big speaker in front of people you need to have the confidence to be speaking in front of those people. Having the confidence to speak in front of people is important to speak clearly and the other people being able to understand what you are saying. For example, you're presenting in front of your boss and co-workers you need to have the confidence to speak in front of them and having them understand what you are trying to present to them. Speaking should be an important life skill

Matariki should be a public Holiday

Matariki is important to people all around New Zealand. It stands for Maori New year, with us being able to have a holiday for our New year the Maori should be able to celebrate there's without having to work as well. Celebrating a new year is important for everyone so why not give us another day to celebrate Matariki. Imagine having to work on one of the most important days to you how would you feel? you would be upset. So why not let everyone have the day off it is only fear.

English is the most Important subject to learn in school

English Could be conceited most importent. it has an important role in writing, proper grammar and other things. Having good grammar, spelling and having well-written paragraphs is a good reason to be engaged in your English class.  For example, writing your CV would need good persuasive writing to convince them you are good for the job. So English has heaps of reasons to be the most important subject.

Do now week 6 Anyone who lives in Aotearoa New Zealand should be allowed to vote in federal election

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Should voting in the Federal election be allowed at all ages? Considering that we have never been able to vote maybe not all ages, but from 16 up would be a sensible idea because around that age you are, more responsible than you would at the age of 12. So maybe lowering the age could be an idea but not having everyone votingFor example, an 11-year-old would be very influenced by how the person talks and acts but not what rules/laws they put in place, and with that, it may be the opposite of what they wanted to happen to improve New Zealand. To restate my opinion that not all ages should be able to vote but only some.
