Wind speed - Making an anemometer.

MATERIALS

1. 4 straws

 2.  4 cups

3. pin

4. pencil

5. tape

STEPS

  1.  Step one is to get your cups and poke a hole on the top side of your cup and make it go through on each cup.
  2.  Then get your four straws to take two and connect it together then tape it after doing that do that with the other two.
  3. After taping each straw together and make a plus.
  4. Then get you to pin and pin it in the middle of the plus.
  5. Then stick the straws where you poke the hole on the cups.
  6. The last step is to tape the pencil to the middle of the plus/cross.  It will hopefully look like this.

Once you have made an anemometer we are going to record the wind speed.

Group size: 5

You will need:

Anemometer (above)

Roles:

  • Timekeeper -Risha
  • Counter-Sahara
  • Recorder- Rarotonga
  • Anemometer Manager - Nevaeh
  • Wind generator- Heat pump, Human breathe slowly, outside, Human breathe fast
  1. Mount the anemometer in a place that has full access to the wind from all directions.
  2. When the timekeeper says "Go", the counter in each group will count how many times the marked cup passes them in one minute and write it down.
  3. If possible, repeat the above step four (4) times and record the average number of spins on the chart.

FINDINGS

  • Record how many times it spins using the table below.
You will need to create the wind yourself by blowing. Get 4 different wind speeds by blowing.

You will need to time them and count the number of spins.

Time IntervalNumber of Spins
1.10sHeat pump-5
2.10sHuman breathe slowly-3
3.10sHuman breathe fast-7
4.10sOutside -2
  • Can you make a statement connecting the number of spins of your anemometer and the speed of the wind?

CONCLUSION:

The fast breath was very fast
and outside was very slow because there was no wind

kindness boomerang

Kindness boomerang

Today In Art hurumanu I have Edited my work and a buddy has to.
With this writing, it is a script about what I posted last time on my blog.
In period four the bell was about to ring for it to be lunchtime at 12.24. The sky was bright and it seemed to be a good day to be outside. Ring, ring, ring. The bell rang powerfully it seemed to be even louder than ever before, maybe it was because I sat closest to the door so that I could see Meadow, my best friend. Amber sat at a table across from me because we were talking about what I got for Meadow and the teacher moved us. As I wanted to escape from the sizzling room as rapidly as I could then finally Miss called my name to be let free.
I hoped  Meadow will meet me towards the soccer posts were we always have a picnics with flowers and everything. The flowers are from when I walk to the soccer posts. Meadow always brings the blanket. When we do this the soccer players try and stay away. Meadow, I let slip out as I darted towards her trying not to slip on the wet school grass.  Those sunny days will not be the same again.
The day was bright and sunny I Hoped Meadow will like the airpods I got her this time. The bell rang less hard than before. Meadow did not have time to open. It felt like it was only 5 minutes for lunch, is the teacher trying to split us? I was walking home with Meadow by my side we split at the fork in the road. Meadow opens her gift casually but fast. IT WAS AIRPODS!!!!! I wish it did not cost her too much.
The next day Sylvie was in a panic she looked a wreck. I had a quick talk to her before we had to get into the class. She had nothing left I had the Airpods in my pocket so I gave them back it was hard to get her to take them back but I got to get them back. And from then on the back. And that day on Meadow gave back. Sylvie learned that is not the best way to show friendship by giving is not all ways the answer.

My buddy gave me feedback and feed-forward here is what she has said about my writing

I liked the way you made it easy to picture what is happening.
I liked the way you put your words made it more interesting.
Maybe next time you could make your sentences shorter.

Art

                            Art

we are drawing out own characters on a whiteboard. I have two other people in my group Danni and Hayley.
We will be doing a lot more colour with the background but the characters are going to be black outline.
With the characters, we will be making a stop motion that is on a Chromebook.
It will be at a school and at a person's house.
Danni is Amber
Hayley is Sylvie and I am Meadow.

I have done an Idea of what will be going on.
first here is what we have now
With this story, we have gone a bit like off this but it is very similar to what is written down

C.I.P/ Passions

C.I.P/ Passions
Hi Welcome back

This term for Comunity Impact Projects. (C.I.P) We are learning to give kindness to others. We also have different passions that others could do such as Ambassadors, Dance, Singing, Rugby Academy, Gym Sports, Health Leaders etc. At C.I.P when others don't have any passions on they have been creating, Cards, Gratitude letters, Needs vs Wants posters and even more. For the Kindness we were doing Kindness Boomerang, Colouring competition, Making sandwiches, and cards, some people even went to Elderly Day Care in Hornby.
What I would like to do next term I would like to be  freestyle art

Bye.
