Steam

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in Wga we are in different classes doing things to create for example I’m in Fashion and we are trying to improve the future in 2050, our plan was to improve using touch energy, so like instead of everyone owning an Ac you have an outfit to heat and cool you wear it will not use as much energy and we have more energy for more important things. Our inquiry question is How can we help heating and cooling without using heaps of energy.

Our concept is:

Matariki should be a public Holiday

Matariki is important to people all around New Zealand. It stands for Maori New year, with us being able to have a holiday for our New year the Maori should be able to celebrate there's without having to work as well. Celebrating a new year is important for everyone so why not give us another day to celebrate Matariki. Imagine having to work on one of the most important days to you how would you feel? you would be upset. So why not let everyone have the day off it is only fear.

English Could be conceited most importent. it has an important role in writing, proper grammar and other things. Having good grammar, spelling and having well-written paragraphs is a good reason to be engaged in your English class.  For example, writing your CV would need good persuasive writing to convince them you are good for the job. Chromatography

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in Science we are learning about Chromatography.

Whats is Chromatography? Chromato means Colour and Graphy means writing or science.

Whats are pigments? The pigment is a substance that gives colour to things. They are used to give colour to all sorts of things like felts, paints, plastic, food, fabric, even animals and plants.

Aim-To separates the different pigments from ink using the chromatography

hypothesis- I think that the pen line will go up and take out the pigments, the colours we might see are orange blue and black. (depended on the pen

1- Draw a line across the filter paper in pencil, 5cm from the bottom.

2- Draw a coloured dot in the centre of the line.

3- Measure out 10mL of water and place it in the test tube.

4- Place the filter paper in the test tube and fold it over the side. MAKE SURE THE PENCIL LINE/ DOT IS NOT IN THE WATER.

5- Wait for 5 minutes and observe the results

EQUIPMENT- Felt tip pen, filter paper strips, test tube, measuring cylinder, pencil.

Do now week 6 Anyone who lives in Aotearoa New Zealand should be allowed to vote in federal election

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Should voting in the Federal election be allowed at all ages? Considering that we have never been able to vote maybe not all ages, but from 16 up would be a sensible idea because around that age you are, more responsible than you would at the age of 12. So maybe lowering the age could be an idea but not having everyone votingFor example, an 11-year-old would be very influenced by how the person talks and acts but not what rules/laws they put in place, and with that, it may be the opposite of what they wanted to happen to improve New Zealand. To restate my opinion that not all ages should be able to vote but only some.

English Eassy

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

In English, for the past few weeks, we have done some research on an influential person and write why they are influential this is what I have done

Jacinda Arden, who is she? Why should she be the most influential in New Zealand? Let me tell you. At the age of fourteen, she had written a CV and was looking for a job that shows that she was a hard worker from a young age. She was looking for jobs at local shops for after school jobs. Later on, in 2007 she was elected president of the International Union Of Socialist, this position took her to destinations such as Algeria, China, India, Israel, Jordan, and Lebanon. In 2011 she ran for the seat representing Auckland Central, this was held by at the time New Zealand’s brightest young stars, Nikki Kaye of the New Zealand National Party.

At the age of 18, she was introduced to politics by her Aunty Marie. Her aunty Marie was a close relative to her and when Jacinda was elected she cried. She took part in her first election around 2001, she also worked as a researcher in the office of Prime Minister Helen Clark. Before working in the office she graduated from the University of Waikato. She got a degree in politics and public relations.

Being one of the youngest elected prime ministers would be a great achievement. She was 37 when she was elected, beating the previous youngest prime minister which was 38. 150 years later, the record was broken. Thinking about it, the work that she would have to put in. Two years later in 2019 working as prime minister, she had to step up, like a true leader and speak out for the Muslim community, to stand by them.

With all this information she has proven to be a very influential person.

Your Name is an Important part of you

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Is your name important to you? When thinking about it your name is how people will first get to know you. Your name is what people use to call you by if everyone had the same name then no one would know who is who. Your name is used for a lot of things such as jobs. You could change your name and it can change your name but it will still be important. So to restate my opinion that your name is an important part of who you are.

Lesion to learn

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in Science we are Learning more about Evapovating, Condensing and, Distillation

States of Matter

Solid

Liquid

Gas

What is Evaporation?

It's something moving from liquid to gas by heating it up.

What is Condensation?

It is a gas turning into a liquid by cooling it down.

What is Distillation?

separating a solution using evaporating and condensing

The Experiment we will be doing next is

Aim: Use distillation to separate out the dissolved sugars in coke and coke zero/diet, from the liquid.

I think the normal coke will have more sugar after it has been dissolved. I also think that most of the liquid will be gone.

In one tube we ended up with clear water and the other with a little slime

Week five do now, The Principal is the most important person in the school

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today English we had to do a Do now to start off our period her is what I did

I believe that the students are the most important people in school. Students are the reason schools are open if students didn't attend the school would not be open. There would be no teaching without students because you need someone to learn. Principals are to help enforce the rules but student have to show them. For example, how many students compared to principals are there. To restate my opinion that students are the more important person in school.

Shark Infested Custard

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in Health we played games

What IP skills did I use?

I used my Manaakitanga IP skill.

Did I use warm fuzzies? I didn’t use heaps of warm fuzzies I used it once or twice by saying that it's is Nice job .

How did I show Manaakitanga by talking to the other team members.

How did my IP skills help with my success, well Manaakitanga is a necessity to help get ideas to each other

I work well with Ashton, Nici, Hayley, Zac, Jesse and Isaac  If was to do it again I would change the way we separated

I was working on level three on the Helisons behaviour model, I worked on this by doing group work.

Science, diluting

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in Science we are going to Concentrated and Dilute

Concentration

A measure of how much solute has been dissolved into the solvent. Other ways said how much solute there is in the solution

Dilution

Making something less concentrated

We can measure it in two ways

How dilate something it (weak)

How concentrated something is (Strong)

Aim: Do a Serial Dilute with Potassium Permanganate

I think that all of the test tubes will be purple but each one will be lighter than the one before, I think this because the colour might fade

When we moved the water from the first one to the second one it got lighter each time, This happened because each time there was more water added to the mixture test tube was the darkest, the last test tube was the lightest.

Science ,filtering

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in Science we are learning about filtering two different liquids

What is filtering?

Filtering is separating things based on their size of particles out of a mixture.

Not all mixtures can be filtered, if it has dissolved into the liquid it has to be separated a different way.

Whats does the liquid looks like

Copper sulfate

  1. Light blue

  2. Liquid

  3. Transparent

Sodium carbonate

  1. Colourless

  2. Liquid

  3. Translucent

I think when we separate our mixture it will be two different liquids, I also think the colours may be both the same colour into the blue when they have been mixed.

Method:

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate.

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask.

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel.

6. Observe what happened.

Conclusion, I saw when we mixed the two chemicals together they went a darker blue and cloudy, when we put it through the filter it turned clear the blue got let at the top.

Why did it happen?

They Reacted together, so they blue sludge (Precipatate)

The clear liquid was Sodium solfate.
