A little about Mother Teresa

In English, we started learning about Mother Teresa and what she has done to help people. Here are some fun facts.


1. When she was born, what name was she given? Her given name was Agnes, and she was born on August 26 1910.


2. At what age did she join the Sisters of Loreto? At the age of 18, she joined the Sisters of Loreto, 1931.


3. Explain her calling from God.

She was on the train and at that time she had gotten her calling from God to help the homeless and poor. 


4. a. Having won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, why did Mother Teresa turn down the prize winner’s banquet? 

She turned the Nobel peace prize down because she wanted the winnings to go to those in need.


b. What does this say about her as a person? 

It says she is a very giving person that cares for others and wants others to live a good life.



5. Write down two adjectives to describe Mother Teresa. 

If I was to describe Nother Teresa in two adjective words the first ones would definitely be Caring and kind-hearted.


6. Explain the Missionaries of Charity. 

The Missionaries of Charity are  People that cared for people who were hungry homeless, cripple, blind and those who felt unwanted. 



7. When did she die?

She died on September 5, 1997. 



8. How do you think she will be remembered? 

She will be remembered for caring for others, putting others first and many other amazing things she had done.


9. What do you believe was Mother Teresa’s purpose in life?

To help the homeless, care for others and to become a nun.
