The Early Encounters In Aotearoa.

     Hello, Aloha

and  Kumusta

Welcome back Today I will be sharing about what I have learnt about the early encounters in Aotearoa.

Abel Tasman was the first European to arrive in Aotearoa in 1642.

They had named it Nouveau Zealandia because they where dutch.

The second explorer was named James cook and he arrived in 1679.

The name of the chief navigator, later on, was called Iu pia.

The Europeans brought Pigs, Rats, Potatoes and sicknesses.

They used Musket in the war. A musket is a type of gun.

The musket war ended in late 1830

After the war, the ratio of the Maori to pakeha in Aotearoa in 1840 was 40% to 1%

Bye have a nice day, Stay safe

  1. You've recorded the facts studied well Neveah. Good to see you're using capital letters when naming people... aim for 100% accuracy when using proper nouns (e.g. Dutch; James Cook; Tupaia
