Pontoon Bridges, get to know a little about them

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

Today in English we had another do now, so today’s do now was about Pontoon Bridges.

Pontoon bridges made they are made around wartime as river crossings. They are normally temporary and sometimes destroyed after crossing, to keep the enemy from using them, or collapsed and carried on a long march. They were used to great advantage in many battles.

Pontoons were formed by lashing several barrels together, by rafts of timber, or using boats. Each bridge section consisted of one or more pontoons, which were manoeuvred into position and then anchored underwater or land.

They reused them by taking them down and placing them somewhere else.
