Physics

Kia ora, bonjour, Hola, Guten Tag, Konnichiwa, Nǐn hǎo, Salve and Zdravstvuyte

So in Science, we dissected an eye.

Parts of the eye:

Cornea: The protective area of the eye

Pupil: The area where light enters the eye

Iris: Where it controls how much light goes into the eye

Lens: It focuses the light into the Retna

Retna: Converts the light into electrical energy

Optic Nerve: Carries the electrical energy to the brain

Humorous: Liquid mash in the middle of the eye that gives its shape

What we did and how we did it.

We had to cut off all of the fat attached to the eye, then we had to cut open the eye (the Cornea and Sclera.) to open to see inside the eye. After the eye was open we saw the Iris and the pupil, which is behind the lens. We had to split/cut the eyeball in half and avoid the Optic Nerve and remove the Retina layer.

I didn’t enjoy it too much because I was afraid it was gonna squirt all over me. I found it interesting that it bleeds out black, I didn’t really know what I was suspecting honestly. But when we cut open the eye it wasn't as easy as I thought it was gonna be easy to cut through but it was really difficult because we didn't wanna get it everywhere.

  1. Hi Nevaeh,
Great blog post! I really like how you have included the parts of the eye and details about the dissection. The black stuff that "bled" out of the eye.. is it actually blood? It really did ooze out as soon as we punctured the eye didn't it. I am please you took part (well watched) even with threat of exploding eye humour!!
